AVOCH and Black Rock Rovers will face off against each other for the final piece of silverware in the Inverness and District Amateur Season in the Association Cup final on Saturday.

The all Ross-shire showpiece will see the two teams clash at Bught Park in Inverness at 2pm.

It comes after both teams will look to end the season with some success after both missing out on winning the Premiership title despite both being contenders.

Avoch only lost one match in the league, but too many draws cost them the chance of finishing on top of the table.

Black Rock Rovers were top of the table earlier this season, but fell away badly during the closing stages of the campaign to end up finishing fourth.

Avoch manager Martyn MacAllister says he will be missing several players for tomorrow’s final, due to players representing Invergordon in the Scottish Cup preliminary round match against Newtongrange Star at the Global Energy Stadium in Dingwall. But he is confident the squad he will have available will be good enough to lift the trophy at full time.

“It is the last game of the season and it would be a great way to finish the season if we can win it.

“It will be difficult as Black Rock Rovers have a lot of good players.

“We only had one defeat in the league this season, but had too many draws and that is what happens if you don’t take your chances.

“We are going to be missing four players due to them playing for Invergordon in the Scottish Cup with other boys missing for other reasons.

“But we will still have a good side available.”

Black Rock manager Evan Murray says Alness United have allowed players to be released for the game tomorrow and is in confident mood.

“It is great Alness have allowed their players to be available to us,” he said.

“This would be the first season we wouldn’t lift a trophy if we didn’t win the final.

“We want to get our hands on the cup to continue our record of winning a trophy every season.

“One team we have struggled against is Avoch, but that is something we are looking to put right on Saturday.”
