CABERFEIDH are looking to put themselves one game away from winning the MacTavish Cup for the first time in 85 years when they face Kinlochshiel in the semi final tomorrow.

The two teams clash at Castle Leod on Saturday, guaranteeing a Ross-shire club will be in the final in Inverness later this month.

Cabers manager Jodi Gorski has led his team to four semi-finals in the last four completed seasons and is hoping he can make it fourth time lucky on Saturday.

“We were in the MacTavish Cup semi final three years ago away to Kinlochshiel, but it didn’t go well as we got hammered,” said Gorski.

“Ever since I have taken over at the club we have made it to a semi final every year.

“We’d like to take that next step and make it to a final.

“This is the only competition for us left as the league games this season are friendlies. The regional leagues are playing for the sake of playing, although it is good for fitness.”

Connor McGregor will miss tomorrow’s clash as he is still serving a three game ban, but everyone else will be available for selection.

Kinlochshiel made history earlier this month by winning the Camanachd Cup for the first time in their history.

The MacTavish Cup is the only major trophy the Balmacara outfit have yet to win.

But Gorski is not concerned with what Kinlochshiel have achieved this season or are aiming to do for the rest of the campaign.

He is only concerned with Caberfeidh reaching the final.

“We are not concentrating on Kinlochshiel at all,”said Gorski.

“All I am concerned is getting my team ready for Saturday. But at this stage of the season they are as fit as they are going to get so it is just about making sure their heads are right.”
