Ross runners ready to step up to major world-class event next month

TWELVE runners from East Sutherland Athletics Club have been chosen to compete in a prestigious event next year.

They will join other athletes from around Scotland for the Inter District Championships at Holyrood in January.

With world class runners from the USA, Europe and the rest of the UK taking part, it should be a day to remember.

There are races scheduled for all age groups starting with the under-13s and under-15s who will be running against the very best in Scotland.

The under-17s have the added bonus of running in the International under-20 race and will be up against some of the top international distance runners in that age group.

The likes of Mo Farah, Callum Hawkins, Laura Muir and Steph Twell have already confirmed their intention to compete in the senior international races.

Having completed their events, the East Sutherland youngsters will have the opportunity to watch these exceptional athletes perform live.

The Holyrood races will be shown live on the BBC on January 7, so watch out for the East Sutherland hoodies.

The selected athletes are as follows:

Under-13 girls’ team – Alyth Gollan, Eva Morrison, Sophie Bath.

Under-13 boys’ team – Cameron Welsh, Kenneth Patience, Sam Bryan.

Under-15 girls’ team – Catriona Scott.

Under-17 girls’ team – Constance Nankivell.

Under-17 boys’ team – Fraser Roach, Keir Beaton, Eoghann Gollan.

Under-20 men’s team – Ross Gollan.
