Super six no guarantee of more wins, says St Duthus boss Ross
St Duthus continue to march on in the North Caledonian League after a clinical 4-0 victory against Bonar Bridge at Migdale Park.
That made it six straight Saints wins – a result which leaves them in joint-top spot.
“We are on a good run just now but we will just take one game at a time,” cautioned Saints’ boss Stuart Ross.
“In the North Caley League you never know what is around the corner.
“Since we lost narrowly to Thurso at the beginning of September the boys have responded really well.”
Saints’ top scorer Ben Bruce gave his side the lead after 15 minutes.
Bruce latched onto a long clearance from keeper John Allan following a Bonar corner. The Saints’ forward rounded the Bonar keeper and rolled the ball into the empty net.
Saints had to wait until the 48th minute to double their lead.
Bruce was on target again after intercepting a slack pass back to score, and he claimed his third hat trick of the season just before the hour mark when he slid home a Liam Rostock delivery from close range.
Rostock completed the scoring eight minutes from the end when he scored from the penalty spot after Bruce was downed in the box.
Next up for St Duthus is Bunillidh Thistle at Grant Park.
“The games between the two clubs have been really close,” Ross said.
“They have taken points off us and we have taken points off them, we can’t afford to take them lightly.”
Ross Tokely, Paul Beaton, Scott Miller and Will Ross all return for Saints after missing last week. But both Jude Fraser and Reece Paterson are unavailable.
Invergordon got back on track with a 3-1 victory against Inverness Athletic at the Recreation Grounds.
First half goals from Ian Penwright and Ken Morrison put Invergordon in control at the break.
Despite having Dean Allison sent off in the second half, Athletic pulled a goal back through James Murray. However, another Penwright goal shortly afterwards sealed the points for Invergordon.
Elsewhere, Golspie Sutherland defeated Bunillidh Thistle 7-0 at Couper Park.
