The 20-year-old has been in and around the Staggies' first team for a couple of years, but was sent out on a temporary move to Montrose in order to gain regular first team football.

It has certainly helped Mackinnon develop, making 30 appearances in all competitions and scoring twice as Stewart Petrie's side look set to end the season in seventh place in League One.

The awards were presented after Montrose's final home game of the season last Saturday, which they lost 4-0 to promotion chasing Alloa Athletic.

Mackinnon was given his County debut by Stuart Kettlewell in November 2020, making three further appearances for the Staggies' first team in the second half of last season after a productive loan spell at Brora Rangers.
