ROSS County won a hard-fought pre-season tussle 2-0 at Highland League side Clach on Tuesday night.

This follows on from Saturday’s identical scoreline at Brora where goals from Steven Craig and Russell Duncan kicked off the Staggies’ summer tour.

Several new faces were given match time for Derek Adams’ team, including goalkeeper Michael Fraser, defender Grant Munro, midfielders Rocco Quinn and Sam Morrow and forward Colin McMenamin.

Russell Duncan and Kurtis Byrne, also recent Dingwall signings, came on as subs in the second half.

The opening goal at Grant Street came on 21 minutes when former Caley Thistle captain Munro powered a header past goalkeeper Stevie Dunn when he connected with a Quinn corner.

McMenamin went close a few times for County and Michael Gardyne flashed a shot over the top.

Like Saturday, County had to wait some time to get a second goal and it arrived on 80 minutes when substitute Mark Corcoran lashed a powerful volley through a ruck of players into the net.

Moments before that, Clach sub Paul Brindle squandered a golden chance to pull the Lilywhites level as the hosts pinned County back.

The Dingwall team will look for their third successive win on Thursday night when Forres Mechanics are their hosts.
