Ross County Athletics Club athlete become Scottish under-17 1500 metres steeplechase champion

Ross County Athletic Club teenager Andrew Baird has been crowned Scottish Under-17 1500 metres steeplechase champion after claiming victory in Grangemouth.

The Fortrose Academy pupil claimed the national title when he crossed the line in a time of 4:26.98.

He won the title by over two seconds as he beat Jack Wallace from Giffnock North AC who finished in a time of 4:29.07.

George Ross just missed out on a medal in the Hammer but was rewarded with a new personal best of 30.22 metres.

He also achieved a personal best in the 200 metres. There were also great performances from Caitlyn Heggie and Noah Carson in the 1500 metres.
