JORDAN White believes Ross County can come out of their tough opening run with more points on the board, inspired by their battling performance against Rangers on Sunday.

The Staggies lost 4–2 to the champions at the Global Energy Stadium, but were in the match until five minutes from the end when Scott Arfield put the game beyond doubt.

In their first five matches of the campaign, Ross County had to play teams that finished in the top six last season.

A trip to Aberdeen on Saturday is followed by facing Celtic before taking on Championship winners Hearts in Dingwall.

White says they have to face the fixture list head on and insists after a battling performance against Rangers, County can take points from the next few games.

“We would have to play these teams at any point of the season so it doesn’t really matter,” he said.

“We are playing them all in a row which is not ideal and we have to look at the other games where we have to pick up points.

“But if we can produce good performances, we can go into next week against Aberdeen, despite being a tough game, looking to take three points and try to make a statement.”

White scored a penalty against Rangers to make it 3–2 in the second half as the Staggies threatened to salvage a point in the closing minutes at the Global Energy Stadium.

Despite the 4–2 loss, the striker says there were a lot of positives Ross County could take out of the game.

“We spoke about taking the positives and scored twice against the champions. Whether they are fragile or not it doesn’t matter, they are still a good team.

“It was frustrating in the big moments that we let ourselves down.

“If you give players of their quality too much of the ball or chances to shoot and they will punish you.

“The goals were preventable and we will work on that.”
