Ross County attacker Alex Samuel will spend the rest of the season with Highland rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle after moving across the Kessock Bridge on loan.

The 28-year-old striker joined the Staggies from Wycombe Wanderers in the summer of 2021, but missed 12 months of action after rupturing his ACL.

If anything, he appeared to come back from the long-term lay-off stronger than he had been before for County, playing an important role as the Dingwall outfit secured their place in the Scottish Premiership last season.

Those performances earned him a new two-year deal with the Staggies last summer, but despite making 16 appearances in all competitions this season he has not started a game since the end of September.

In a bid to play more often, then, he has dropped down a division to sign for Caley Thistle until the end of the campaign.

Samuel has also played for Aberystwyth Town, Swansea City, Greenock Morton, Newport County and Stevenage, winning individual awards at Newport and Wycombe.

He also made three appearances for the Wales under-18 international side, scoring twice.
