ROSS County have captured former Caley Thistle keeper Michael Fraser on a one-year deal.

With Staggies number one Michael McGovern yet to commit to the club, new boss Derek Adams swooped to bring the Drumnadrochit man back to the Highlands from Maltese club Birkirkara.

The 27-year-old, who also has top-flight experience with Motherwell, was keen for a move back to Scotland after helping Birkirkara to third place in the league and a cup final.

Adams, who has already brought freed Caley Thistle defender Grant Munro and Queen of the South defender Colin McMenamin to Dingwall is working on luring more quality players to Victoria Park as the club aim to have a real go at winning the Irn Bru Division One title this season.

He was thrilled to make Fraser this third summer signing.

He said: “Michael has made close to 100 appearances in the SPL and now has experience of playing abroad. I hope to add more players to the squad in the coming weeks.”

Adams last week confirmed first-team coach Stuart Balmer as his assistant, while also bolstering his backroom staff with the return of Stuart Millar and Ian Mackinnon.

Millar arrives from Aberdeen and will take on the role of analysing the opposition, while Mackinnon will provide match-day video analysis.

This Friday sees the release of the fixtures for the new First Division season.

Meanwhile, supporters can get the chance to hear at first hand the ambitions of the club at an open meeting with chairman Roy MacGregor and boss Derek Adams, which will be held at Victoria Park on Monday, June 27, from 7.30pm.
