Ross County record £500,000 loss in latest financial year results
Ross County recorded a loss of £500,194 in its latest financial year figures which have been released.
However, the six-figure loss has been ‘extinguished’ by an inflow of cash from its ultimate parent company.
The 2021/22 figures from Ross County Football Club (1998) Limited were released on Company House on Wednesday, May 31.
The club said in the accounts that they have a long term strategy in place that will protect the club in the upper tier of the SPFL.
The figures were released before Ross County ensured their survival in the Premiership on Sunday after beating Partick Thistle in the play-off final.
The accounts read that the 2021/22 season kicked off with an element of optimism, but that the recovery from Covid-19 and severely difficult financial headwinds was likely to make for a difficult financial year.
The club said last season, its two main objections to mitigate any damage to the club’s cash flows and retain Premiership status.
In the 2021/22 season, Ross County finished in sixth place.
Chairman Roy MacGregor says competing in the top flight is challenging for smaller clubs.
He said: “All the teams in the bottom six you will find will question their budgets for next season. We have all been dragged by the city teams, who after 10 years have got their acts together.
“Financially, they are more sound. If you get into Europe like Hearts, their budget was up to £10 or £11 million. The other clubs are down at £2 to 2.5 million so it’s a dogfight down there.
“The league doesn’t lie and St Mirren have done really well to get up to sixth. You have to have exceptional leadership on and off the park.”
