ROSS County proved no match for Hibernian as three goals in the space of 10 minutes during the first half killed the game off at Easter Road.

Martin Boyle, Kyle Magennis and Christian Doidge did the damage as the Staggies could not halt the stampede of goals from Hibernian as Ross County travelled back north well and truly humbled.

With their next game two weeks away, at home to champions Rangers, manager Malky Mackay will have food for thought on how to recover from a poor display.

Hibernian took the lead midway through the first half when Boyle launched a 30-yard screamer which took a deflection off Jordan Tillson and looped out of the reach of Ross Laidlaw into the back of the net.

Four minutes later the hosts doubled their advantage thanks to wonderful play from Josh Doig who cut in from the left wing and his cross found Magennis to guide home from close range.

Hibs were running riot, scoring their third goal in the space of 10 minutes as Doidge beat the County defence in the air to nod home Paul McGinn's cross from the right wing as the game looked dead and buried just after the half hour mark.

But Ross County threatened to pull one back minutes later, Alex Iacovitti sent in a great cross which Ross Callachan connected with on the volley but it went inches over the bar.

Jack Burroughs and Harry Clarke made their debuts for Ross County at the start of the second half replacing Coll Donaldson and Harry Paton.

Doidge came close to making it 4–0 on the hour mark, when he connected with Joe Newell’s cross in the box, but his shot was blocked from finding the net by Regan Charles-Cook.

Hibernian seemed content to run out the clock with Ross County rarely threatening the goalmouth to pull one back.
