The Scottish Football Association has ruled there is no case to answer as they confirmed a notice of complaint against him has been withdrawn.

The 35-year-old was cited by the SFA compliance officer on Hogmanay in relation to an incident took place in the Ross County clash against Rangers on Sunday, December 6.

It was alleged he made an offensive comment towards Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos.

Rangers players, including defender Connor Goldson, reacted furiously at the time, going over to the fourth official and manager Steven Gerrard to ask if they had heard what was said.

Gardyne was booked by referee John Beaton at half time.

Ross County conducted their own internal investigation in the week that followed, and decided no further action would be taken.

Ross County have since released a short statement on social media, saying: "Ross County FC today welcomes the SFA’s decision to withdraw the notice of complaint served to Michael Gardyne.

"We now consider the matter closed and will be making no further comment."
