Malky Mackay wants Ross County to continue getting bums off seats when Motherwell come calling at Dingwall tomorrow.

Ross County won 4–0 in their last match.
Ross County won 4–0 in their last match.

Across the Staggies’ last three home matches, they have scored eight goals – winning two and drawing one.

That sort of entertainment had become the norm last season, but was missing for large chunks of the 2022/23 campaign to date.

The challenge, then, is now to keep that ruthless streak going against a Motherwell side who have rediscovered their own form in recent weeks.

Since County legend Stuart Kettlewell took the reins at Fir Park, the Steelmen have won back-to-back games.

So while Mackay is aware Motherwell are in a good moment, he has high hopes of another strong home performance this weekend.

“As soon as we won last week, it was about getting out to the fans who have sat here and watched us all season,” Mackay explained.

“They have paid their money. I’m delighted we have managed to score eight goals in the last three games at home.

“We have shown our fans some real entertainment.

“Let’s not be too greedy but it was four going on eight at the weekend, and the eight-goal swing we have had with Dundee United is important.

“The fact we looked dangerous every time we attacked meant we had bums off seats, which was something we were prone to doing last year.

“Motherwell have had a couple of changes of personnel. The new manager has come in and had his own ideas on a couple of players.

“Everyone will be looking to impress, and everyone will get a fresh start.

“Everyone is subconsciously giving more effort than the norm. I think that’s what you see with situations like that.

“Undoubtedly it will be a tough aspect for us. It’s a manager that wants to prove himself in the new job, so we’ve got to make sure we meet fire with fire.”
