Co-manager Steven Ferguson says Ross County got what they deserved as they secured the Scottish Championship title and promotion back to the top flight.

The Staggies lifted the trophy after beating Queen of the South 4-0 at the Global Energy Stadium in Dingwall on Friday night putting them out of reach of second placed Dundee United.

Ferguson praised his squad saying their success was a team effort on and off the pitch.

"Everybody was in it together from the backroom staff to the chairman and the directors," he said.

"Stuart and I feel we got what we deserved.

"We feel we did our business in a manner that made us deserve to be champions."

Speaking about the 4-0 victory over Queen of the South, he said: "We didn't want to stumble over the line.

"We wanted to come out tonight and give the league the respect it deserves.

"We feel we did that with the result and I can't speak highly enough of the players that we have got.

"We trusted them. We knew what they were capable of and they delivered on everything that we asked. As far as Stuart and I are concerned we could not ask for any more."

With Premiership football guaranteed for next season, Ferguson says they have the players who are capable of competing at Scotland's top level.

"If we add the injury list we had to the group of players that turned out week in and week out we have a group of players that can compete in any game they play.

"We look forward to the next challenge."

Ross County will celebrate their Championship win with a free family fun day at the Global Energy Stadium at 2pm today where the player of the year will also be announced.
