ROCCO Quinn has become Ross County's seventh summer signing - almost one month before the competitive season begins.

The 24-year-old midfielder has moved from Irn Bru Division One rivals Queen of the South on a two-year deal, giving the Dingwall club a further boost under boss Derek Adams, who returned to the hot-seat at Victoria Park last month from the assistant manager role at Hibs.

Quinn, a former Celtic squad player who has played for Hamilton and had loans spells at Kilmarnock, St Johnstone and Livingston, checks into County on Monday.

There he will meet fellow new recruits, goalkeeper Michael Fraser, defender Grant Munro, midfielder Russell Duncan and forwards Colin McMenamin, Kurtis Byrne and Sam Morrow.

Adams said: "Rocco can play anywhere across the midfield area. He was a consistent performer in the last couple of seasons for Queen of the South. He is capable of creating and scoring goals from midfield."

One player looking likely to be on the way out of County, however, is goalkeeper Michael McGovern, who is attracting attention from several clubs, including Aberdeen.

County begin the new campaign with a home tie against Third Division Elgin City in the Ramsden's Challenge Cup on July 23 - seven days before they host Queens Park, also of Division Three, in the Scottish League Cup.

The First Division season kicks off on Saturday, August 6, with Ross County again at home - as Morton head to Victoria Park.

County's first away game follows on Saturday, August 13 when they go to the SPL's relegated side, Hamilton Accies.
