Ross County athletes claim gold medals at North School Championships

ROSS County Athletics Club claimed four titles at the North Scotland Schools Cross Championships at Gordonstoun.

The top teenage athletes from across the north of Scotland competed at Moray on Tuesday.

Flora Sutherland was crowned under-14 girls champion as she was too good for the chasing pack to claim gold.

Tamara Bergman also put in an impressive performance to claim third place in the category.

Anna Fraser, Lucy Fraser and Daisy Hendry also put in respectable performances at the event.

George Comisso was crowned under-14 champion as he put in an outstanding performance to finish on top in his category.

Rowin Schiller also put in an excellent performance, but just missed out on the podium places to finish in fourth.

Callum Crawford finished in 11th place overall with Sam Maclean also taking part in the event.

In the under-15 boys section, Andrew Baird continued his dominance at his age group as he claimed another impressive victory.

Calum Duffy just missed out on the podium places as he finished in fourth place.

Other Ross County athletes performances saw Jamie MacGruer finish in 13th place, William Sendall crossed the line in 16th place with George Ross finishing in 20th place.

Caitlyn Heggie also continued her dominance at her age group as she claimed victory in the under-17 girls category.

Emily Bell also competed in the under-17 age group race.

Four Ross County athletes competed in the under-17 boys race.

Noah Carson finished just outside the podium places in fourth place.

Ali Young crossed the line in seventh place with Struan Ellen and Ruaridh Ellen also competing in the race.

Ross County Athletics Club are now preparing for major races later this month.

The final race of the North Cross Country League is taking place at Forres on Saturday/.

Ross County are going into the race with a number of athletes having a good chance of winning championships.

George Comisso is top of the under-15 championship with Andrew Baird in third place after winning the first three races of the season but missed the last race held at Peterhead.

Noah Carson is at the top of the standings in the under-17 boys championship with one race to go.
