MANAGER Malky Mackay is sweating over the fitness of three of his players who were taken off injured in the 1–1 draw with Aberdeen on Sunday.

Midfielders David Cancola and Regan Charles-Cook, along with defender Connor Randall, were all taken off during the game at Pittodrie.

Austrian midfielder Cancola was taken off early in the first half, while Charles-Cook had to come off with a hamstring problem in the second half with Randall also being forced to come off towards the end of the game.

Mackay says he was left with a walking wounded squad at full time and is now waiting to hear of test results regarding the fitness of their players this week.

“It was like the walking wounded with the number of ice packs,” he said.

“We will assess them and hopefully there is nothing too scary.

“We had a real blow with Jake Vokins, our left back from Southampton, that had an injury that required an operation and 10 weeks out.

“We already have that and Jack Burroughs out after an innocuous tackle from someone in training.

“We don’t need our squad to be any more threadbare than it is.

“It was good to bring Jack Baldwin in and some experience in the squad.

“But to be fair the boys that are here which we have kept and the new guys are gelling together.

“We need to make sure we get a group that is big enough that can see us through until December.”

Ross County do not play for two weeks due to the international break.

Mackay says they will look to use that to their advantage before their next match at Celtic on Saturday, September 11.

“There is a break now and it allows players to know each other better,” said Mackay.

“To be fair to them, they have embraced and pulled together really well.

“There are guys in there making debuts every week.

“It will be nice to get the transfer window closed and get a group that will see us move forward until January now and that is something that I am looking forward to.”
