The team played their first match in the competition at their home ground at Ferry Brae Park in North Kessock.

The team also took to the field in their new kit which is sponsored by MacAulay Askernish Ltd.

But the Orcadians came out on top and took the lead after 20 minutes when Abi Coltherd put them in front.

The Kites equalised five minutes before half time when Zoe Morrison scored the club’s first competitive goal with a free kick.

But Orkney went in front at half time through a Gemma Montgomery penalty. Orkney took control of the game with Coltherd’s second and a strike from Jess Ewing made it 4–1. Simone Coles grabbed a consolation for the hosts with 10 minutes left.

Ross and Cromarty head to Nairn St Ninian on Sunday.
