Malky Mackay says Ross County are treating the visit of Rangers on Sunday like any other match.

The Scottish champions come calling in Dingwall this weekend having already slipped up on multiple occasions this season.

Going into last night’s match against Alashkert in a Europa League qualifier, Steven Gerrard’s side lost three consecutive matches against Malmo and Dundee United before thrashing Dunfermline in the Premier Sports Cup.

Whenever the top teams play Ross County there is some talk of it being a free hit for the Staggies.

If that was the case inside the dressing room last season, it paid off as they registered two wins over Celtic.

However, current boss Mackay is keen to see his side be competitive against the Glasgow giants, saying there is no difference in their preparation compared to facing any other team.

“Everyone gets judged in football every week by everyone,” he said.

“That’s certainly the case in the Scottish Premiership, so we will go into this game with the same approach as every other game.

“We know there is a team coming here who will pose us a huge threat. They’re the champions of Scotland, a terrific team with a talented manager, so we know it’s going to be a tough one for us.

“At the same time, my players can go out there and test themselves against the best. I’ve told them that.

“It will be great to get as many fans into the stadium as we are allowed in.

“We’ve all been crying out for that, so hopefully we will have a terrific atmosphere. We all want to play against the best players in front of full houses, so I’m really looking forward to it.

“We will analyse the last couple of games that Rangers have played, just like everyone else.”

Jake Vokins, who is back with parent club Southampton recovering from a foot operation, is Mackay’s only injury absence with everyone else in his squad available for selection.
