Jordan Tillson believes Ross County have the mental edge over Kilmarnock and Hamilton Academical in the fight against relegation.

Despite their 1–0 defeat against St Johnstone on Saturday, the Staggies remain in 10th place.

Kilmarnock reduced the gap with Ross County to one point with a 4–1 win over Motherwell and bottom of the table Hamilton Academical are only two points off the Dingwall side.

But Ross County have beaten both their relegation rivals in their last encounters, and Tillson believes that could give them the mental edge at the end of the regular season.

”One point makes a difference,” he said.

“We have played these teams three times now and we know what to expect.

“We have to be ready for whatever they bring. If you can get on a roll and go undefeated that helps.

“We have done well recently, the next part is seeing out these games and we have to do that sooner rather than later.

“We have turned up at the right times against these teams and we have to do it again.

“It’s that moment of getting everyone pushing in the same direction and make sure we are ready to beat these teams again.”

Tillson, who joined from Exeter City in January of last year, has no experience of the split, but is determined to rise to the challenge.

He believes Ross County have the quality in their squad to win the battle against relegation, but knows improvement is required.

“I have never done the split before where you play each other again and pick up points on each other.

“We need to be strong and resilient, not giving away goals and nick goals where we can.

“That will be our story until the end of the season, so we will make sure we are ready to go.”

Speaking about the defeat at St Johnstone, he said: “It is not good enough and we will learn from it and take it into the last five games.”
