Ross County Cricket Club have made it through to the Nosca Senior Cup final – giving them a chance to end their 21-year wait to lift the trophy again.

On home turf at Castle Leod, County secured a 122-run victory over Northern Counties – a side they had lost to just weeks earlier in the league – in the semi final.

Club captain Graeme Carney led the way with the bat, scoring 94, while opener Chris Blake chipped in with a handy 36, as did Devit Scrivastava with 21 not out, as County reached 231–7 from their 30 overs.

Wickets fell far too regularly for Northern Counties to come close to the total in response, although Will Ford did reach his own half century before being sent back to the pavilion.

The bowlers who did the damage were Renato Belli, Paul Moxon and Tanay Scrivastava, who each claimed two wickets as Counties were bowled out for 109.

With so much time having passed since County last lifted the Senior Cup, there is plenty of excitement at the prospect of finally getting their hands on the trophy.

“It was a great win – we batted and bowled really well, everything came together perfectly,” Blake said.

“This is our first cup final in a long time, I can’t even remember the last one.

“That’s us in the final of the T20 Cup and the Senior Cup, and funnily enough we’re playing Forres in both fixtures, so we would like to do the double.

“We’ve already beaten them in the league this year, so we would like to continue that and do the double to win both the cups.

“Our new recruits have added another dimension to our bowling attack.

“We’ve always had really good batsmen – record breaking batsmen in fact – and now we have another couple of bowling options it has really added to the team.

“We are complete in all areas now. If we put our best 11 out, I think we can defeat anyone.”
