Ross-shire clubs Alness United, Invergordon and St Duthus have been asked whether they want to take part in the Football Times Cup and Jock Mackay Cup in 2021.

North Caledonian League Division One and Two are scheduled to be completed by the end of January, with the North Caledonian League Cup due to be concluded early in 2021.

All 12 clubs which are competing in the league this season have been asked if they want to play additional tournaments.

NCFA president Iain Whitehead says early indications were that the majority of clubs were in favour of additional competitions, which will take place between February and April.

“We do have two cup competitions remaining and we plan to do something with them,” he said.

“That was always the plan and we are pleased with how the league has turned out as we didn’t think we’d get as many games played as we have.

“I think all the clubs will enter both tournaments that are still to be arranged.

“In one competition we might have the usual knockout format and in the other cup competition, we might try and do mini leagues to increase the amount of games.

“But it is the plan to play these two cup competitions.”

Whitehead also confirmed that plans were afoot to return the North Caledonian League to one division for the 2021/22 campaign.

The league was split into two divisions this season on a one-off basis, to ensure the campaign could be completed.

Teams which finished in the top-six last season, which included Invergordon and St Duthus, before it was ruled null and void, played in Division One while the remaining clubs played in Division Two.
