ROSS Callachan says Ross County regretted not being able to hold on to their lead long enough as they went down 4–2 to champions Rangers at Ibrox.

Joseph Hungbo gave the Staggies a shock lead after five minutes, but the lead lasted only 13 minutes as Joe Aribo equalised. Ryan Kent then put Rangers in front on the half hour mark before goals from Juninho Bacuna and an Alex Iacovitti own goal put Rangers 4–1 up after 60 minutes.

Jordan White grabbed a late consolation for Ross County, but Callachan felt the Staggies didn’t make Rangers work hard enough to get back into the game.

“It wasn’t 1–0 for long enough and we couldn’t take the momentum from being in the lead,” he said.

“Unfortunately they equalised through a set piece which is disappointing for us and then a wondergoal through Ryan Kent.

“But at half time we were still in the game at 2–1. But we lost a goal early in the second half which deflates us.

“But I thought we were good and we are the only team to score twice against Rangers twice this season.

“However, we need to address the poor goals that we are conceding because they were very poor.”

Ross County do not play again for another 15 days when they face Hibernian in Dingwall on Wednesday, November 24.

Callachan says they will look to address how they can get off the bottom of the table as they are four points adrift.

But he is confident that the team can start picking up points going into the second half of the campaign.

“Our attacking play has been great at times, but it is about how we stop the ball going in the back of the net,” he said.

“We have struggled at times to do that this season.

“But we beat Dundee 5–0 and we showed we can be solid in defence as well as show we can score.

“So in the next game we need to show we are capable of not conceding as well as scoring goals.”
