Jordan Tillson believes the character of Ross County’s dressing room is helping them pick up points they may not have at the start of the season.

Against both Aberdeen and Livingston in recent weeks, the Staggies have made sure they have taken some sort of reward for their efforts despite being under pressure for large spells of the match.

On each occasion, too, they fell behind early in the second half before coming back with an equaliser.

That is a far cry from County teams in years gone by who always felt vulnerable to crumbling when hit with a setback.

Even early in the current Premiership season when they would have spells of positive play but end up leaving empty-handed more often than not.

The turnaround in fortunes for the Dingwall outfit has not been lost on Tillson, who credits the mentality of County’s squad for having the resilience to grind out results.

“I think it was the opposite way around at the start of the season,” he reflected.

“We were playing some really good football, and we just weren’t picking up the results we needed.

“When we needed to pick up results, we weren’t doing that.

“But it seems to have flipped a bit now.

“Hopefully we can now kick on and start getting those performances a bit better and keep getting more results.

“It’s hard, you get some tired bodies.”

He added: “It’s the time of the year as well when the pitches are changing a little bit, and you need to find a way to win.

“The team is doing that to find results at the moment, and we need to keep that going.

“We have a really strong mentality.

“I think it goes to show the strength of the changing room that everyone is together.

“It’s a never say die attitude where everyone is ready to pull up and get on with it.”
