COLIN McMenamin is a serious doubt for this weekend’s visit of St Johnstone after labouring with a thigh injury.

Last season’s top scorer was given the last week off training to try and heal the injury which manager Derek Adams revealed had been niggling him for some time.

But the 31-year-old, who hit 20 goals en route to the First Division title, has not been completely ruled out of the Perth Saints visit.

Adams stressed: “Colin has been playing with a slight thigh strain and he has missed most of this week, so we’ll see how he is for Saturday.

“He hasn’t trained this week. I’ve given him a wee rest to see if it can help him.”

Mark Corcoran remains out with a hip problem — and will see a specialist shortly.

Alex Cooper is out for a few weeks after injuring medial ligaments in a tackle against Kilmarnock.

Adams took a close look at Saints in their shock 2-1 victory over Celtic but admits he learned little new after a lacklustre performance by the champions.

Adams said: “Celtic were below par on the day but St Johnstone took advantage of that. Because of that, St Johnstone are favourites going into this one.

“It was difficult to see many weaknesses in the St Johnstone team because Celtic didn’t put them under enough pressure.

“Celtic didn’t win a corner until late in the game. Confidence-wise, St Johnstone will be happy.

“I was really disappointed St Johnstone won, first and foremost, but I didn’t think Celtic deserved to take anything.

“I feel we have a good chance of going for the win. We’re hoping to cause them problems back here at home.”
