Mann turns to youth for inspiration

Ross Sutherland head coach John Mann is looking to his young players for inspiration ahead of tonight’s derby match against Highland 2nd XV.

The Stags’ form so far this season has not replicated pre-season hopes of a promotion push.

But Mann is putting their defensive lapses down to inexperience, and says the extra fitness of youth can help Ross Sutherland be competitive.

“I think we’ve struggled with the stop-start nature of games, and our defence has been struggling,” Mann admitted.

“I think our attack has been a little bit better than last year, but individual mistakes have been the biggest difference.

“It’s quite a new squad compared to last year, it’s a lot less experienced, so that’s what I’m putting it down to."
