MANAGER Malky Mackay says there is more to come from Ross County after they won their first match in seven games with a 1–0 win at Livingston.

Owura Edwards scored the only goal of the game 16 minutes from time when he pounced on a rebound after Jordy Hiwula fired a shot which crashed against the crossbar.

However, Edwards reacted quicker than the Livingston defence to head home which gifted the Staggies all three points.

Mackay says to win at Livingston was the response he was looking for after they were thrashed 5–0 by Motherwell in Dingwall, four days previous.

“They showed a lot of the battling qualities we showed from last season and from parts of this season,” Mackay said.

“But it was good that we showed it all in one game.

“We knew it would be a war of attrition and that we would be tested and balls would be thrown into our box to three tall forwards who are dangerous.

“We knew we had to stand up and be counted which allowed us to go on the break against them, which was excellent in the second half.

“I have a professional, fit and honest group of players here. I am just delighted.

“We have taken criticism for the midweek game, but I have a good group here that can compete with any team in this division.

“There is a lot more of that to come.”

Match winner Owura Edwards says the team were determined to come out on top with a win at the Tony Macaroni Arena after the thrashing they suffered against Motherwell last week.

“We had to grind it out and that is what we did,” Edwards said.

“It’s good to get a goal.

“It was my only chance in the game and, when it came, I took it. It was good to get three points.

“We needed a reaction from last Tuesday.

“Defensively, I think we showed a good reaction from the last game.

“We have to have a foundation, we need to keep our fundamentals and show it every game and keep adding layers and get a better team.”
