Adam Mackinnon believes that his return to Brora Rangers on loan is a move that will work out well for all parties.

The young Ross County midfielder, currently on his third loan spell away from the club, has gone back to the Highland League after featuring for Montrose in League One last season.

It may not have been the scenario Mackinnon envisaged at the start of pre-season, when the challenge in front of him was to break into the Staggies' first team.

However, despite a lack of game time through the early part of the season in Dingwall, the 20-year-old thinks that going back to Dudgeon Park in the short-term can help his cause – and help the Cattachs in their hunt for silverware this season.

“I’m always going to train hard and try and play for Ross County," Mackinnon explained.

"That’s the goal, and hopefully I will be soon enough.

“We have got a big squad, with good players. I have to maybe try other routes, other than just going straight in.

“Right now, I just need to get games in and get 90 minutes into the legs, because that's the most important thing.

“Brora were obviously interested, as well as one or two others.

“Having been there, I knew the way they play football suited me. It has worked out well so far.

"I have only managed to get a few games in, but hopefully I can get a few more. I know all the boys and the club, so it has been very good."

Since Mackinnon signed for Brora again, Derek Adams has replaced Malky Mackay as County manager.

“He has been very good so far," Mackinnon added.

"Obviously the last manager was a really big help to me, and he got me both of my loan moves that have worked out for me, and he gave me a few appearances, so I'm thankful to him.

"Hopefully I can impress the new manager and get my chance come January.

“One of the first things the manager said when he came in was that it was a clean slate for everybody.

“He didn’t care what we had done in the past. It’s just a chance, not just for me but for everyone to go and show him what they have got."
