His Tain based team of Christine Mackenzie, Ash Sinclair and Sandy Renfrew thrashed Inverness Curling Club skip Ormond Smith 11–0 in their opening game.

The Ross-shire rink went on to beat a Strathspey Club rink 10–6 in their second game.

They lifted the Dennis Ice Bowl with four points and a plus-15 shot record from their two games to win the competition.

With matching points but a plus-13 shot finish the Northern Constabulary Police Club rink of Graham McKenna, Neil Gallacher, Philip McPhie and James Greenwood were runners-up.

Third placed after two games were the Highland Club number three team of skipper Mike Jack with Jill and Colin Silver and George MacWilliam with four points and plus-11 shots.

From the first round losers Sutherland Province’s skip Nigel Murray (Rogart) with Val MacKay, Mike Hogg and Duncan Clark emerged to win the Low Road with Inverness’s Ormond Smith and his rink of Pamela James, Tom Purves and Gordon Miller collecting the second consolation prize.

Meanwhile Brian Thomson and Andy Woodstill share top spot in Inverness Super League Division Two with unbeaten records after four games played.

Thomson improved his shots and ends record against Keith Petrie with a comprehensive 10–2 win.

Andy Wood ended Innes Rankin’s running climb up to third place when he beat the senior curler 12–1.

Rankin dropped a place to fourth, overtaken by Dennis Bowl winner Mackenzie.

The Tain curler should have polished off Jamie Cattel in end seven when the Ross-shire skip missed his draw for four shots, but he finished with three shots in the next end to win 7-4.
