Full time | Ross County 0–2 St Mirren (Fraser, Dennis)

Full time: Ross County 0–2 St Mirren

Three minutes added

89' Paton picks up the ball in space, but just misses the target from the edge of the box.

86' Dennis doubles the lead

It is 2–0 to St Mirren, thanks to Kristian Dennis' first goal for the Buddies.

He found space at the near post to head past Laidlaw, with the ball just clipping the inside of the post on it's way in.

78' Great save from Laidlaw to deny Tait, who had headed the ball towards the top corner at the far post.

76' Fraser fires Buddies in front

St Mirren finally have a reward for their attacking play since the second red card, but it was not without an element of luck.

Marcus Fraser picked up a loose ball and fired through a crowded penalty area, with it taking a deflection on it's way through that beat Laidlaw and found the net.

71' Shaughnessy volleys just wide! The St Mirren captain has plenty of space to hit it, so the defender might feel he should have done better.

70' Durmas forces a good save out of Laidlaw from a free kick.

65' A few more substitutions now, as Tillson replaces Hylton for County.

Jim Goodwin has also made another double change, with Macpherson and Dennis replacing McGrath and Erhahon.

59' Draper sent off

Ross Draper has been shown two yellow cards, one right after the other.

The first came after a foul on Erhahon, but the towering midfielder reacted badly to the St Mirren player going to ground, pushing him over again.

That was enough for the referee to show him another yellow card, bringing County down to nine men.

58' Morias, now on the right flank for the visitors after those changes, cuts inside and stings the palms of Laidlaw.

He parries the ball away for a corner, which comes to nothing.

57' Double change for St Mirren, as Erwin and McAllister are replaced by Obika and Durmus.

The second half is under way!

Half time thoughts

Aside from the early double stop from Alnwick, sights of goal have been few and far between.

County probably had the better of play in the minutes before Reid's red card, but that seemed to energise the Buddies who swarmed forward just before the break.

This will be an important team talk from Hughes to galvanise his players, because based on what I've seen so far the Staggies have every chance of taking points this afternoon, even with 10 men.

There's the half time whistle, and it is still goalless at the interval.

39' A somewhat enforced change for County as Carl Tremarco comes on to plug the gap at left back, with captain Iain Vigurs making way.

37' Reid sent off

Ross County are down to 10 men after Josh Reid was shown a second yellow card for sliding in on Kyle McAllister.

It is not the first time this season that the Staggies hive given away the numbers advantage, and coming after working their way to the opposition box a couple of times in the last few minutes it will be a blow to Hughes' men as the first half draws down.

24' Bit of a scrappy spell in the game, with neither side creating much action in front of goal.

The condition are not making it easy to be fair, with passes just skimming off the surface and a couple of players losing their footing.

13' Decnt chance for Kelly, who was fed in by Hylton.

The on-loan midfielder did not have to break his stride, but was on his weaker foot, and pulled the ball wide of the mark.

5' Impressive double save from the St Mirren goalkeeper!

Jak Alnwick was twice at full stretch to keep the scores level, with Iain Vigurs' corner posing a danger.

It seemed to come off a St Mirren shirt at first, before Alex Iacovitti headed towards goal to force the second.

1' Ross Draper has the first shot at goal, connecting with Stephen Kelly's lay off, but it is an easy save for Jak Alnwick to make.

We have kick off!

30 minutes to kick off

It is a wet and miserable Boxing Day in Dingwall, and St Mirren are the visitors to the Global Energy Stadium as John Hughes takes charge of his first home game.

Hughes makes two changes to the starting line-up that faced Celtic on Wednesday night, with Michael Gardyne and Ross Stewart dropping out through injury.

Jermaine Hylton and Oli Shaw step up from the bench to come into the side in their place, with Marcus Fraser and Lee Erwin both in the Buddies team to face their former club.
