Aberdeen 2 (Main x2), Ross County 0 | Full time

Full time: Aberdeen 2–0 Ross County

Four minutes of added time

84' Sam Cosgrove is on for Aberdeen now, replacing Kennedy.

79' Another great chance for Stewart, dancing around defenders inside the box to try and find space to get a shot away.

Eventually, he does, and Lewis has to dive to his left to parry it awat.

73' Aberdeen make a change, with Shay Logan coming on for McLennan. It is a defensive move by the hosts, perhaps looking to see out the game from here.

70' After a break in play where McCrorie needed treatment after being taken out by a cross, we are back under way.

The Aberdeen man has been checked out, and returns to the pitch.

65' Gardyne hits a volley towards goal after Reid's cross was blocked, but it bounces wide.

63' Final two changes for County as Gardyne and Hylton come on for Paton and Tillson, which should give the side a lot more width.

58' Main doubles up for the Dons

Aberdeen stretch their advantage to 2–0 thanks once again to Curtis Main.

Ryan Hedges' shot was blocked into his path, and with his back to goal there was a lot of work to be done.

He turned smartly though, and powered a finish past Laidlaw and into the top corner to put daylight between the sides. Is that a decisive couple of minutes in this match?

56' What a chance!

Ross County should be level after Ross Stewart misses the target from just a couple of yards out.

Josh Reid's cross caused the problems, being deflected and looping high into the area.

It looked like Aberdeen's defence was waiting for Joe Lewis to come and claim it, and that hesitation let Stewart in only for him to put the ball the wrong side of the post.

The second half is under way!

Half time thoughts

The way that 45 minutes of football has gone, Curtis Main's goal in the fourth minute could well be the difference between the teams.

There is not much inspiration at all in this game, with Aberdeen dominating the ball for spells but most of the action going from side to side.

Connor McLennan did look like he might have a prosperous afternoon against Regan Charles-Cook early on, but with injuries to Alex Iacovitti and Connor Randall they are now on the opposite side of the pitch.

It will have been disappointing to be forced into the change because of injury, but bringing Billy Mckay on should make the Staggies more attacking – and give an otherwise isolated Ross Stewart some support – and hopefully breathe some life into proceedings in the second half if things open up a bit.

Half time: Aberdeen 1–0 Ross County

45' County create their best chance of the half right on the brink of half time, with Stephen Kelly's free kick from wide on the left being met by Billy Mckay.

The Northern Irishman has a bit of space to direct the ball towards goal, but he can only head over the bar.

35' A second injury blow of the afternoon for County as Connor Randall comes off.

They really are dropping like flies, but with Billy Mckay coming on it will force the Staggies to go more attacking.

32' Aberdeen's Ross McCrorie's gets the first yellow card of the match for a clash with Coll Donaldson.

26' Not too much action to speak of here, Aberdeen have most of the ball as would have been expected before the match, but they have not found a way through to goal.

17' Iacovitti comes off after Jonny Hayes put a low cross into the six-yard box that Ross Laidlaw needed to deal with.

Reid comes on after having an extra minute or two to warm up, and it looks like County have switched to four at the back, with Charles-Cook moving from left-wing back to the right flank.

11' Alex Iacovitti goes down and requires treatment. It does not look good at first, with Josh Reid getting ready to come on, but the centre back is going to try and continue.

4' Early lead for Aberdeen

The hosts have an early advantage thanks to Curtis Main.

Ryan Hedges' corner reached the back post, where it was not dealt with at all by the Ross County defenders, who allowed it to fall into the six-yard box.

Main was the quickest to react, turning it past a couple of bodies and into the corner to put Aberdeen 1–0 ahead.

We have kick off at Pittodrie!

30 minutes to kick off

Stuart Kettlewell makes three changes to the side that lost against Rangers last Sunday.

Stephen Kelly comes back into the fold after missing the match against his parent club, while Regan Charles-Cook comes in at left-wing back and Connor Randall starts in place of the injured Keith Watson.

Josh Reid perhaps surprisingly drops to the bench after being a fixture in the Staggies side this season, with Michael Gardyne also named as a substitute.

Aberdeen: Lewis, Hoban, Considine, Main, Hedges, Taylor, Hayes, McLennan, Campbell, Kennedy, McCrorie.

Substitutes: Ritchie, Logan, Ojo, McGin, Cosgrove, Hernandez, Edmonson, Ngwenya, Ramsay.

Ross County: Laidlaw, Randall, Morris, Vigurs, Iacovitti, Charles-Cook, Kelly, Tillson, Paton, Donaldson, Stewart.

Substitutes: Doohan, Gardyne, Mckay, Hylton, Reid, Wright, Williamson.
