INVERGORDON striker Ben Kelly has agreed a deal to join Highland League club Nairn County.

The North Caledonian League player of the year, who scored 31 goals in 28 appearances for Invergordon last year, has agreed a one-year contract at Station Park.

The 25-year-old fired Invergordon to success as the Ross-shire club lifted the Football Times Cup and North Caledonian Cup as well as finish in second place in the North Caledonian League.

Manager Steven Mackay said: “Ben is a player we were tracking over the course of last season and we are delighted to now bring him to the club.

“He had an excellent season with Invergordon last year and everyone we asked spoke positively of him and his potential to step up to the Highland League.”

He added: “We invited Ben along to join us for pre-season training when the squad returned earlier this month and he has done really well. He is clearly a fit boy and keeps himself in really good shape, which will stand him in good stead for the coming season.

“The challenge now for Ben is to come in and earn a place in the team and successfully make that transition from the North Caledonian League. Having played for a good Invergordon side in the last few seasons, I think he is now ready to do that and we are all looking forward to continue working with him over the coming season.”
