AFTER winning the Royal Dornoch Ladies’ Club Championship seven times since she first won the trophy at 17, Cara Gruber was defeated last Saturday by Alison Bartlett, who won with an eagle putt on the 18th green.

Cara had been the better player on the front nine, finding the fairways, whereas Alison was making some recovery shots from the rough.

Cara was two up at the turn, and three up at the 12th, but from there on Alison played some incredible golf, with birdies at the 13th, 15th, 16th (halved, since Cara got a birdie as well) and 17th to get the match back to all square.

They were both on the green in two at the 18th and the referee had to decide who had to putt first! This being Alison, she sank the putt and Cara only narrowly missed hers. Brilliant golf from both ladies.

Congratulations also to Margaret Ross who won the handicap trophy 2/1 from Denise McBride. This is the third time in a row that Margaret has won this trophy.
