Ross Sutherland head coach John Mann blasted his team for attempting to beat Mackie at their own game in their 26–19 defeat at Invergordon.
Mackie raced into a 14–0 lead before the Stags stampeded back with tries from David Gill, Daniel Gordon and Beefy Davies with two conversions from Dan Corr to put them 19–14 in front.
But Mackie scored two more tries to give them the win to the disappointment of Mann who felt his team threw victory away.
“The game was there for the taking and it was down to inexperience of players.
“We were a much younger fitter athletic team and we had 10 to 20 kg on every single player.
“But for some reason as Mackie were running straight at us, the young boys decided to run back at them."
