Invergordon teenager powers to North Cross Country League win at Forres

LACHLAN Thomas claimed an impressive victory when he came out on top in the Under-17 North Cross Country League race at Forres last weekend.

The Ross County Athletics Club athlete put in a dominant performance as he won his race by 51 seconds.

Thomas claimed victory with a time of 20 minutes and four seconds.

He followed up his victory from the first race meeting in Lochaber in October and his third place finish at Evanton in the second meeting.

Ali Young of Ross County Athletics Club was in second place with 20.55 with Ruairidh Stirling of Inverness Harriers in third place with a time of 21.08.

Ross County claimed four of the top five places with Kayden Thomas fourth in a time 21.29 and Noah Carson in fifth place in a time of 22.00.

It has been an impressive year for Thomas, a pupil at Invergordon Academy, who claimed victory in the Inverness 5k in March and the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 5k in June.

Earlier this year, Thomas was called up to the Scotland’s under-15 squad at the London Mini Marathon.

There was also success for Ross County athlete George Comisso who claimed victory in the under-15 boys’ race.

He claimed victory in a time of 16.53.

Ewan Thompson of Inverness Harriers was in second place with a time of 17.29.

Jamie MacGruar of Ross County was in third place with a time of 17.34.

In the under-15 girls’ race, Ross County athlete Flora Sutherland claimed second place in a time of 18 minutes and 12 seconds.

Anna Meek of Inverness Harriers won the under-15 girls title claiming victory in a time of 17.29.

Sky Simpson of Inverness Harriers was in third place in a time of 18.30.

Ross County Athletics Club also claimed the team titles in the under-17 and under-15 boys races.

The next North Cross Country League race is scheduled to take place in Peterhead on Saturday, January 20.

The final race of the season is set to take place in Nairn on Saturday, February 3.
