Invergordon could win the North Caledonian League title on Saturday if they beat Orkney at Recreation Park in their final game of the season.

They missed the chance to seal the title last weekend after losing 3–1 at home to Halkirk United.

But they stay top by two points as nearest challengers Loch Ness lost 3–0 to St Duthus in Tain.

If Invergordon lose on Saturday, Loch Ness and Halkirk United still have the chance to lift the title if they win their remaining league matches.

Invergordon fell behind against Halkirk after 14 minutes when Andrew Mackay put the Caithness club in front.

Kyle Maclean equalised for the Ross-shire outfit on the 28th minute.

However, Halkirk went on the ascendancy in the second half and with Graham MacNab and Kyle Henderson finding the net, they gave the Anglers a lifeline in the North Caledonian League title race.

At Tain, Loch Ness went behind 10 minutes before half time when Finn As-Chainey put St Duthus in front.

They killed off the game when he scored twice in the final seven minutes to deal a massive blow to Loch Ness’s championship title aspirations.

Orkney were pulled back twice before eventually see off Alness United 3–2.

All the goals came in the second half with Liam Delday giving them the lead in the 55th minute.

Ryan McFee levelled in the 61st minute but Chris Simpson regained the lead for Orkney three minutes later.

McFee pulled Alness back into the match in the 70th minute to make it 2–2 but Simpson scored the winner for the Orcadians three minutes from time.

Thurso moved off the bottom of the table by winning two matches in the space of three days.

Thurso defeated Bonar Bridge 4–0 at The Dammies on Saturday.

They then followed it up with a 2–0 victory over Golspie Sutherland at Naver on Tuesday night.

It was announced after full time on Tuesday that Sam Mackay has stood down as manager of Golspie Sutherland after being in charge of the club for two years.
