INVERGORDON manager Gary Campbell knows victory against Loch Ness on Saturday could prove to be a massive boost towards their aim of winning the North Caledonian League title.

League leaders Invergordon face the defending champions in Fortrose on Saturday at 1pm and are three points clear at the top of the table.

Victory would put Invergordon’s title aspirations in their own hands and go six points clear with four games remaining.

However, defeat would see Loch Ness go top of the table on goal difference and have a game in hand on Invergordon.

Campbell says Saturday won’t decide who wins the title, but says the result could prove to be a major factor at the end of the campaign.

“It is a big game for us on Saturday, and it is one that we want to win,” said Campbell.

“I don’t think the result will take anyone out of the equation, but it will go a long way to decide what will happen.

“Halkirk United are still in it as they have five games in hand on us.

“But it will prove to be a big point in the title race. If we are looking to win the title, we need to be looking at winning this game on Saturday.”

Invergordon have had an impressive campaign, having only lost one game this season.

They are also on for a clean sweep of trophies, winning the Football Times Cup earlier this season and are through to the quarter finals of the North Caledonian Cup.

Campbell believes there is even better to come from his team in the remainder in the campaign.

He said: “I still don’t think we have played as well as we can do or should do.

“That is something we will have to improve on Saturday. We still have a chance for a clean sweep of trophies and that is our aim.”

Elsewhere on Saturday, St Duthus face Orkney at Grant Park in Tain, Bonar Bridge play Halkirk, Golspie face Fort William and Thurso take on Inverness Athletic.
