John Hughes started his reign as manager of Ross County with defeat against Celtic at Parkhead.

Ross Turnbull gave Celtic the lead midway through the first half after he connected with Jeremie Frimpong's cross and fired home from close range.

They doubled their advantage after the hour mark when Leigh Griffiths was allowed a free header at the back post to nod past goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw.

Ross County remain four points behind Hamilton Academical after they lost 2–0 at home to Livingston.

They are also four points behind St Johnstone as they lost 3–0 to leaders Rangers.
