Graham relaxed about first road event of the year

Fin Graham is keen to see how he fares at this weekend’s Paracycling World Cup in Belgium.

This is the first event of the road season for the Strathpeffer athlete, after closing his track season at the World Championships in March.

Road cycling is a much longer form of the sport than its track counterpart, with endurance coming to the fore rather than sprinting ability.

Graham will compete in the time trial in Ostend tomorrow and then the road race on Sunday, but he is not setting any specific goals for himself just yet.

“I’m looking forward to it, but because it’s the first race of the year you never know how you’re going to go against everyone else,” the 19-year-old explained.

“I’m confident, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens.

“The time trial is not one of my stronger events, so I’m just going into it not expecting much.

“If I get a good result it will be a bonus.”
