Golspie Golf Club member claims victory at competition at Tain
DARREN Hexley came out on top to win the North Golf Winter Alliance fixture at Tain Golf Club.
The Golspie Golf Club member claimed victory by three shots on Sunday to win the latest round of the fixture on Sunday.
He fired a 66 on the day, which was three shots clear of his nearest opponent Ross Naismith of Brora Golf Club who hit a 69.
David Joel of Brora Golf Club was in third place as he was five shots behind as he hit a 71.
There was Ross-shire success in the Category One competition as Bryan Ronald of Invergordon Golf Club came out on top.
He fired a net 69 to win and was one shot clear of Gregor Munro from Reay who fired in a net 70.
Munro finished second ahead of Hamish Skinner of Portmahomack in third place who also had a net 70, thanks to a better inward half.
In the Category Two competition, Jimmy Nimmons of Portmahomack Golf Club came out on top to claim victory with a net score 70.
Ali Simpson of Thurso finished in second place with a net score of 71 with Sanders More of Portmahomack also on 71.
Simpson finished ahead of More due to a better inward half.
In the women’s competition, there was more Sutherland success as Anne Clarke of Brora claimed victory by one shot thanks to a score of Net 77.
Carol Paterson of Reay was second thanks to a better inward half ahead of Jean Clasper of Thurso who both scored net 78 during their rounds.
There are three rounds left of the 2023./24 North Golf Winter Alliance season.
The next round is scheduled to take place at Invergordon Golf Club on Sunday, February 11.
