Shaun Kerr: Eight goal spree conjured memories of boyhood delight

AVOCH forward Shaun Kerr equalled a boyhood goal-scoring feat when the rattled in eight goals in his side’s incredible 20-0 victory over fellow Inverness and District Amateur division two outfit Highland Hoops last week, which brings his total for this season up to 26.

The twenty-eight-year-old has been a prolific scorer in the amateur ranks over the years. He has also knocked in the goals for Nairn County in the Highland League and Golspie Sutherland in the North Caley.

But although Shaun has notched a number of double hat-tricks in the past, the last time he netted eight goals in one game was at primary school when the opposing goalkeeper was his own brother Michael.

Shaun explained: "I scored eight goals for Avoch primary school when I was in P5. We were playing Ferintosh and they turned up without a goalkeeper, Michael was on the sidelines and they asked him to go in goals. So it was nice to score eight against him."

On his eight goals against Highland Hoops last week, Shaun, a staunch Rangers fan added: "I scored two with my left foot and the rest with my right. But it was great to score so many goals against a team wearing green and white hoops."
