BRYAN Fotheringham, the reigning North Scottish Golfer’s Alliance champion, took a step closer to retaining the K M Cameron Trophy for best six scores when he shared first place in the competition’s first visit to the Torvean Golf Course in Inverness.

Against a course winter par of 66 (33/33), Fotheringham tied with Scott Dingwall (Grantown on Spey). He matched the outward half par of 33 and returned in 34 while Dingwall recovered from a triple bogey seven on the second hole, where the Caledonian Canal comes into play, with an eagle two on the next hole in his halves of 35 and 32.

With just two fixtures remaining to register scores in the competition for the best six score aggregate trophy, Fotheringham now leads John Campbell (Grantown on Spey) by three shots 413 to 416.

Robert Mackay (Fortrose and Rosemarkie) grossed 71 for a third place in the low handicap section and in the high handicap section Willie J Donnelly (Fortrose and Rosemarkie) and his club mate Dave Spence are still in the mix for this handicap section’s aggregate trophy.

The NSGA fixtures shift back east this weekend with a fixture at Elgin and still the hoped for fixture at Muir of Ord on Saturday March 16, which was postponement from March 2, before the Championship finale over the Moray Old Course on March 23.
