Alliance Golf

A GOOD representation of Ross-shire golfers contested the first meeting of the North Scottish Golfer’s Alliance at Garmouth and Kingston.

The three leading scratch cards of one under par 66 came from Grantown’s John Campbell, Inverness’s Bryan Fotheringham and Moray professional, Andrew Rollo.

In the second handicap section (8 to 14), Fortrose and Rosemarkie had three members listed as winners. Dave Spence, who had several wins last season, was first at Garmouth with a nett 64, off 14. He was followed by eight-handicapper Willie Donnelly Jnr, whose gross 73 was the best of the Ross-shire scratch scores for a nett 65 and share of second handicap place. Fortrose’s third winner was George Leonard who grossed 78 for nett 66.

The full North Scottish Alliance fixture dates for the season are: October 13, Kinloss; October 20, Grantown on Spey; October 27, Inverness; November 3, Boat of Garten; November 10, Forres; November 17, Nairn Dunbar; December 1, Moray New; February 2, Spey Bay; February 16, Fortrose; February 23, Muir of Ord; March 2, Torvean; March 9, Elgin; March 23, Moray Old (Championship).
