Inverness Caledonian Thistle suffered their first defeat in the Championship as Partick Thistle proved too good at Firhill.

Former Ross County striker Brian Graham scored twice in the first half to give Partick a commanding lead.

Kevin Holt then scored from the penalty spot to give Partick Thistle a comfortable advantage on the hour mark.

Anton Dowds then completed Caley Thistle's night of misery with a fourth goal to send Partick to the top of the league.

George Oakley scored a late header as a consolation for Inverness.

Inverness were unchanged from the team that were outstanding in the 4–1 win over Cove Rangers six days previously.

But David Carson and Wallace Duffy returned to the bench after missing through injury the previous weekend.

Partick took the lead midway through the first half. A cross from the right wing found Graham in the six yard box and he fired into the net.

Inverness attempted to respond as Scott Allardice's ball into the box found Aaron Doran who laid it off to Billy Mckay who fired at goal.

But he forced a good save from David Mitchell who parried the ball out for a corner.

But Partick were gifted a second goal nine minutes before half time.

Robbie Deas played the ball into his own box, but didn't see Brian Graham charging in as he beat Mark Ridgers to ball and fired into the net.

Thistle were then awarded a penalty after the hour mark when David Carson was found guilty of fouling Graham in the box.

Kevin Holt then fired a low drive past Ridgers to put them three goals up.

Inverness's night of misery was almost complete when Anton Dowds beat the Inverness defence to score a diving header four minutes from time.

George Oakley scored a late header as a consolation for Inverness.
