Tributes have been paid to former Ross County midfielder Adam Strachan who died yesterday at the age of 35.

Strachan joined Ross County in January 2008 and played in what was then the Second Division and First Division before being released by the club.

The circumstances of his death have not been confirmed.

Strachan started his career at Partick Thistle before joining Ross County and later went on to sign for Dumbarton in September 2009.

He went on to play for Albion Rovers, Clyde, Arbroath, Clydebank, Irvine Meadow, Clydebank, Glenafton Athletic, East Kilbride and BSC Glasgow.

Ross County paid tribute to Strachan on social media this morning writing: "Ross County are sad to learn of the passing of former player Adam Strachan.

"Adam spent two seasons in Dingwall making over 50 appearances. Our thoughts are with Adam's family friends and loved ones at this time."

Former Ross County forward Sean Higgins, who was at Dingwall between 2002 and 2009 said: "Horrific news. What a boy. Argued with him every day in training. Great ability and another character that was misunderstood. I’ll never forget the time he sprinted down Dunblane Hydro hill and disappeared quicker than he was and that’s saying something. RIP "
