Along with fellow former Highland Rugby Club player Paddy Kelly, the pair have been chosen as part of a 13-player squad which is returning to the series after supplying players to a Great Britain team in 2021 due to the impact of the pandemic.

The pair are set to feature in two tournaments in Spain, in Malaga on January 21-23 and Seville on January 28-30.

Henry who is at Edinburgh Rugby and is part of the FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy, has played for Scotland at the under-20 Six Nations competition last season.

Paddy Kelly has represented Scotland at four Sevens tournaments.

Scotland have been drawn in Pool A of the Malaga leg, alongside South Africa, England and Fiji, with results at that event determining the make-up of Seville a week later.

Scotland 7s Head Coach Ciaran Beattie said: “Having named our core squad in December, we are thrilled to be sending a group of players to Malaga and Seville to start such an important year for Scotland 7s.

“We have worked extremely hard over the past few weeks in preparation for these first legs of 2022, in the knowledge that the series will be as competitive as ever.”
