BUDDING young Ross-shire rugby players on the verge of a busy festival and tournament season have been handed a welcome local sponsorship boost.
The Ross-Sutherland RFC P6/7 minis squad will be backed for the next two years by The Storehouse, which is sponsoring their strips.
Club president Alan Maclean said: "Without sponsors it would be impossible to attend as many festivals as we do. It’s imperative that our young players get as much game time as possible. Alongside developing as rugby players we also aim to help kids develop socially and many of the skills they gain from being involved with the club will be useful in later life."
Quintin Stevens of The Storehouse, an award-winning farmhouse and restaurant at Foulis, near Evanton, said: "I have always enjoyed rugby and getting involved with Ross-Sutherland was a great chance to help grow the game in the Highlands. The age group I have sponsored is packed full of talent and I wish them all the best for the forthcoming season."
• Ross-Sutherland mini P4-7 and micro P1-3 sections attract players from the largest catchment area in Scotland, from Helmsdale in the North across to Gairloch in the West and Nairn in the East.
New players are always welcome. Training takes place every Saturday from 10-noon, weather permitting. Check the website for further details www.pitchero.com/clubs/rosssutherlandrfc
