Ross County co-manager Steven Ferguson has confirmed that top scorer Billy Mckay’s season is over.

The Northern Ireland international hit the 20-goal landmark with a hat trick against Ayr United on Tuesday evening, but injured himself in scoring the third, breaking his arm.

With just 12 games left in the season, it means that Mckay will not be able to play any further part.

“It’s what we thought, it’s what we feared,” Ferguson revealed.

“He has snapped his upper arm.

“The good news is that he’s been in and had the operation, that’s all been done, so it’s now fixed. It’s just the start of his recovery now."
