Inverness Harrier javelin thrower and Dingwall Academy pupil Zak Fearn wins gold at Scottish Under-17 Athletics Championships in Aberdeen in one of three medals for former Ross County athlete

Javelin thrower Zak Fearn claimed gold in the Scottish Under-17 Athletics championship when he threw a winning distance of 44.50 metres.

The Dingwall Academy pupil, who represents Inverness Harriers also claimed silver in the long jump with a distance of 6.04.

In addition, he took bronze in the high jump with a leap of 1.72 metres.

There was also gold for fellow Inverness Harriers hammer thrower Rachel Maclennan as she threw her way to top spot after claiming gold with a throw of 50 metres and 47 centimetres.

There was also gold for Inverness Harriers athlete Megan Keith in the 1500 metres.

Keith, who is currently studying at university in Edinburgh, claimed the national title in a time of four minutes 20.09 seconds.

There was also success for Leona Fernandez who claimed two medals at the Under-17 championships.

She claimed bronze in the hammer with 46.52 metres and also came in third place in javelin with 28.64 metres.

In the under-17 hammer competition, Rory Stainsby claimed silver with 46.12 metres with Sean Radabaugh claiming bronze with a throw of 45.91 metres.
